Since breaking into Hollywood in the early 1990s, we’ve seen Jamie Foxx tackle role after role with great aplomb, but the Oscar-winning actor and musician reveals that it takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears, particularly in the gym, to keep him at his prime.
Looking positively shredded on the November issue of Men’s Fitness, Foxx credits his physique to regular workout sessions that include 45 minutes of weight training and basketball drills.
Pairing his intense workouts with a low-carbohydrate, high fiber and high protein diet, he says a typical training day starts with a breakfast of toast, two pieces of turkey bacon and orange juice followed by a sandwich on pita bread and a protein shake for lunch. Post workout, he has another protein shake and keeps dinner light with a meal of fish and vegetables. “I’ll cheat a little bit,” he admits, “but then I just have to bust a-- on the other side.”
Next summer, we'll see Foxx tear it up on the big screen as the villain Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Thanks to his healthy lifestyle, the 45-year-old star says he has no plans to slow down anytime soon.
“I wouldn’t have this type of energy otherwise,” he tells me. “I feel refreshed, I feel young.”
