Maybach Music Group is putting up stiff competition for rap's unofficial summer takeover crown. Fresh off Sunday's Hot 97 Summer Jam performance (Wale and Meek Mill held down solo sets, while Rick Ross surprised the crowd during French Montana's headlining slot), the MMG crew stopped by 106 & Park Monday (June 3) and released a slew of songs to the Interwebs.
With Wale's The Gifted release nearing its debut, the D.C. native tapped Rihanna for the remix to his "Bad" single. The re-up, affectionately nicknamed the #BADRiHmix by the Bajan beauty herself, sounds tailored to her real life love drama — which is probably why the pairing works so well. The duo becomes a relationship tag team of sorts, with Rih taking on the verbal relay race in a few extra verses aside from holding down the chorus.
Also revealed on what was apparently Maybach Music Monday was Wale's "Poor Decisions" featuring Rozay and Lupe Fiasco (the visuals dropped today). The track is slated for the third installment of their hit-making mixtape series, Self Made. Of the three rappers on the bill, the front runner is Ross with his hook, "rich n---az makin' poor decisions," which is ironic given all it took to get him to apologize for that "date rape lyric," but perhaps that was the point.
Label mate Rockie Fresh also offered up "God Is Great" along with the cover art and release date of Self Made Vol. 3, publicized through hip-hop journalist Shaheim Reed's Instagram account. The tape drops Aug. 6.
Wale's The Gifted is due out June 25 and Ross will drop his Mastermind album sometime this year.
