BET's Debra Lee and Stephen Hill Make Billboard's 2015 Power 100 List

Execs join L.A. Reid, Sylvia Rhone, Birdman in top honors.

Billboard magazine has released their Power 100 list, and instead of focusing on the talent that brings money to record labels, it has focused on the executives that power the machine behind some of the most successful acts in the business.
Making the list as one of the most dynamic duos in the industry, BET Networks Chairperson/CEO Debra Lee and President of Programming Stephen G. Hill landed at No. 84. This is Hill's first year making the list while Ms. Lee jumps eight spots from last year's ranking.

Jimmy Iovine landed at No. 5 this year, up from the 10th slot no doubt due to the massive Beats Electronics deal with Apple. L.A. Reid and Sylvia Rhone, both music executives at Epic Records, come in at No. 6; the founder of the Atom Factory, Troy Carter, comes it at No. 75; and Johnny Wright lands at No. 83 after a huge year with long-time client and friend Justin Timberlake
Lastly, slipping 40 spots and landing at No. 90 this year are Cash Money Records co-founders and co-CEOs Bryan "Baby" Williams and Ronald "Slim" Williams. It's no secret that the YMCMB empire has had a rough couple of months, so it's nice to see them representing hip hop and entrepreneurship on the list after a 2014 that really only saw the release of Nicki Minaj's The PinkPrint and the Lil Wayne vs. Drake Tour. Internal battles became public when Tyga aired out the label for pushing back his album, followed by Lil Wayne doing the same a few months later.
You can read more about all of the power players on the list when the new issue of Billboard is released on Feb. 14, 2015.
