Report: Lil Wayne Tour Bus Shooter Appeals 20-Year Sentence
Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, the man convicted of shooting Lil Wayne’s tour bus, is appealing the 20-year sentence handed down last month.
Bossip reports that on Dec. 18, Winfrey filed to appeal both the sentence and plea that found him accepting guilt in six to 27 charges stemming from the April shooting. The grounds of his appeal are unclear.
According to an indictment, Winfrey “and fellow Blood Gang members entered Interstate 285 from Atlanta Road in Cobb County in pursuit of the buses occupied by (Lil Wayne’s) group.”
After shooting Wayne’s bus Winfrey made a call on a phone registered to Birdman, the indictment states. Young Thug, whom Winfrey reportedly worked for as a tour manager, was named but not implicated in the murder plot indictment along with Birdman.
The Cash Money label head denied any involvement in the incident, despite of the continuing legal beef with Wayne.
Winfrey was sentenced to 10 years behind bars and 10 years probation, as part a his plea deal.
