Chicago Gun Violence: 4 People Dead, 11 Injured This Past Weekend
Four people died and 11 were injured in Chicago gun violence this past weekend, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Deon Gilbert, a 15-year-old boy, was among the victims. He was killed Friday night when the driver of a vehicle shot him in the abdomen while he was walking in the South Deering neighborhood, the Sun-Times reports. He later died at the Comer Children's Hospital.
On Monday morning, a 26-year-old man was shot in the face while he stood in the Northwest Side Belmont Cragin neighborhood. Luis Zuniga, 44, was in his driveway Sunday afternoon when someone shot at him from another vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.
In a gang-related shooting, Johnathan Cartwright, 18, was struck by a bullet in the head Saturday evening. The teen was pronounced dead at the scene in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.
There have been 311 homicides by gun violence in Chicago so far in 2014, according to data collected by Red Eye Chicago.
