Hip Hop Awards 2022: ‘I Am Hip Hop’ Honoree Trina Shines Bright in These Guest Verses
Rap’s baddest female rapper, Trina, was honored earlier this month with the “I Am Hip Hop Award,” and it couldn’t have gone to a better deserving artist. Bronx-born emcee Remy Ma and Slip-N-Slide founder and longtime collaborator Trick Daddy presented the prestigious recognition. During the significant moment, the “Here We Go” emcee held back tears as she accepted her award while thanking dozens, including Trick and her rockstar fanbase.
Trina has paved the way for some of today’s rising stars to express themselves and celebrate their femininity in their music, thanks to classic records from the legendary entertainer. In honor of this year’s show, we’re looking back at some of Trina’s hit records and some of her most memorable guest verses. Check them out below.
Trick Daddy — “Nann N—ga”
Trina is perhaps best known for her feature on Trick Daddy’s smash 1998 single “Nann N—ga” from the Miami rapper’s second studio album www.thug.com. Though she never intended to become an emcee, the record’s success catapulted the budding female star to fame.
Missy Elliott — “One Minute Man” feat. Trina and Ludacris
Train hopped on Missy Elliott’s 2001 classic record “One Minute Man” alongside rapper Ludacris. The song is featured on Missy’s third studio album Miss E... So Addictive. The song features a sample of David Pomeranz’s 1976 song "Greyhound Mary.”
Latto - B—ch From Da Souf (Remix) feat. Saweetie & Trina
You can’t mention the South in rap music without mentioning the baddest, Ms. Trina. In 2019, Latto tapped the legendary emcee and west coast rising star Saweetie for a remix to her smash female empowerment single, “B—ch from da Souf.”
