Soul Train Awards 2022: From Kid Star to Seasoned Drama Queen, Get Familiar with Paige Hurd’s Most Memorable On-Screen Roles

The Texas native is best known for her roles in shows, including ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ and 'Tyler Perry’s The Oval.’

Another fantastic show is in the books as we wrapped up the Soul Train Awards 2022 during the Thanksgiving holiday. Viewers were treated to one dazzling performance after another memorable moment, packed with several celebrity guest appearances from some of Hollywood’s funniest and most prominent names.

Other star sightings included actress Paige Hurd, who stunned viewers when she appeared in a one-of-a-kind performance of Muni Long's latest single, “Plot Twist.” Hurd is a former child star best known for her appearances in films and television shows, including, Everybody Hates Chris, the Starz original crime drama, Power Book II: Ghost, the 2005 comedy film Beauty Shop starring Academy Award-nominated actress and rap icon Queen Latifah, and more.

In honor of this year’s ceremony, we’re looking back at yet another fantastic night in soul and r&b music and getting to know some of our performers and presenters better, including the veteran actress with these memorable television roles.

  • Tasha Clarkson

Fans were introduced to Tasha Clarkson, the crush of young Chris Rock, played by Abbott Elementary star Tyler James Williams, in season two of the hit comedy series Everybody Hates Chris. The wide-eyed teenager wanted nothing more than to be Tasha’s leading man, but she felt they’d be better off as just friends.

Chris finally got his opportunity to date Tasha in season 4, but she dumped him shortly after. According to him, she is the only girl who doesn't hate him.

  • Lauren Baldwin

Paige took on the role of Lauren Baldwin on the Starz original crime drama Power Book II: Ghost in 2020 as the girlfriend and classmate of Tariq St. Patrick, portrayed by actor Michael Rainey Jr. Fans were devastated last March after the actress’s character had been killed off in an apparent car accident in season two.

  • Muni Long’s Love Interest Soul Train Awards 2022

During the Soul Train Awards 2022, hosted by the funnyman and award-winning actor Deon Cole, longtime singer and songwriter Muni Long gave fans a theatrical performance filled with several cameos from notable figures, including Skyh Black, Erica Ash, social media-born comedian, and host DC Young Fly, and Paige, who surprised fans with her cozy duet with the “The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award” winner.
