Adele Concert Special: Black Couple Share Details Of Surprise Proposal
Adele’s epic comeback to the music scene has been full of surprises and during her CBS live concert special she made one Black couple’s proposal, one for the books.
For the concert special titled Adele One Night Only filmed last month, the singer performed a variety of her most popular songs as well as a few from her forthcoming album 30 dropping on Friday (Nov. 19).
The Sunday (Nov. 14) televised concert was filled with memorable moments, including Adele helping a man propose to his girlfriend of seven years.
“I need every person to be really bloody quiet, all right?” whispered the artist, to her audience at the landmark Griffith Observatory in LA.
“If you make a noise, I’m going to kill you,” she added before instructing the show producers to dim the venue lights.
Quentin Brunson and Ashleigh Mann spoke with CBS Mornings on Monday to give the behind the scenes details about the evening that was filled with laughs and tears.
"I'm like, 'Okay, this is a dream, for sure. This is definitely a dream,'" Mann said.
"I honestly thought that we were going to go on a hayride," she added. "I had been talking about going to the pumpkin patch, so I assumed we were doing something cool like that."
Mann was brought on to the stage blindfolded wearing noise-cancelling headphones as Brunson led the way. Once she uncovered her eyes, she quickly realized that she was the star of the show and was standing before some of Hollywood's famous faces including Lizzo and Melissa McCarthy.
"I did not know who was going to be there in the audience," Brunson said, adding that he didn’t know the proposal was taking place at Adele’s event until two days before.
Brunson shared that he sent in a one-minute video explaining why he should be given the opportunity.
"I felt like this opportunity was from God for sure because it was made for us," he explained on CBS Mornings. "Once it came across my table and I saw it, I just knew that if I submit to this, they're going to pick us because, I don't know, we have so much to offer. And I'm just happy that everything went the way it did."
