Tyler Perry

In honor of Black History Month, we're taking a look at the most powerful African-Americans in Hollywood. And very few can compare to the first one on our list, Tyler Perry. As an actor, playwright, filmmaker and producer, Perry is breaking box-office records with his gospel-themed films. He is also the first African-American to own a major film studio. Upcoming projects for Perry include Good Deeds starring Gabrielle Union and the television series For Better or Worse.
