Brandy Responds to Being Called 'Petty' for Her Fallout With Monica

"I'm just no longer a punk and won't allow anyone to bully me."

Anyone who knows the Norwoods know that the celebrity clan keeps it all in the family.

And that’s just what happened after a fan came for Brandy for the alleged shade she’s been throwing regarding her fallout with fellow R&B songstress Monica

Ever since Brandy’s '90s-dazzled Soul Train Awards performance, the divisive fan bases of both Monica and Brandy have been in Instagram comment section wars. One fan, however, chose to call out Sonja Norwood, Brandy’s mother.

Claiming that Sonja was helping to perpetuate the drama, the fan slammed Brandy for continuing the feud with Monica and even threw in that Brandy is still basking in single womanhood because of her pettiness. Yikes.

Mama Sonja clapped back with the commentary that “unlike some,” she’s more than qualified to speak on Brandy’s behalf seeing as though she managed her daughter’s career. Without further ado, the “Almost Doesn’t Count” singer followed up and warned the fan that she came for the wrong mother.

“Don’t ever come for my mom!,” Brandy penned back. “The problem with everybody is y’all don’t know anything about the streets.”

She went on to say that she doesn’t hide her shade in “class, diamonds and pearls” and that while others might not notice the subliminal shots taken at her, she’s using her platform to defend herself anyway.

“This has been going on for a long time, and I’m no longer a punk and won’t allow anyone to bully me,” Brandy said. “Always know that there is something deeper and some things I know that no one else does.”

Afterward, Sonja polished it off in the most unbothered fashion a mother could have and reminded everyone that she wasn’t stooping to any level of disrespect despite what fans from both parties had to say. She added that “talent is a different conversation” and Brandy has earned her moniker as the “vocal bible.”

We guess a family that claps back together, stays together. Peep the like mother, like daughter comments below.
