Its Looks Like Migos May Have Inspired Gucci Mane's New Album Title

Gucci-level approved.

Even after releasing five projects in 2016 with a pocketful of hip-hop luminaries, including his first post-prison album Everybody Looking, Gucci Mane still wants all eyes on him.

It now looks as if he’s also holding true to his promise of three more albums for 2017 with the announcement of the first of the collection on Tuesday (Jan. 24). And if the name sounds familiar, you can salute Migos.

Posting to his Twitter, Guwop announced that he would be naming the album DropTopWizop, suggestive of the second line in the hook of Migos’ smash hit “Bad and Boujee.” Hashtagging the name for the forthcoming album in tweets, the elder statesman of trap rap doesn’t give any mention to its release date, but assures fans that it will be upon them soon.

Just as the Billboard-topping Everybody Looking and holiday-themed East Atlanta Santa LPs featured successful collaborations with Kanye West, Drake and Young Thug, the hope is that Gucci will team up with even more standouts from hip-hop’s exclusive circle. By way of his confident tweet that the project will be the “best album of 2017,” we’re sure his sleeves are fat with surprises that he’s ready to pull out with the album as well. In addition to already having a portion of the project completed, he also wants to be recognized by a new moniker in commemoration of the album.

“DropTopWizop, already 4 songs in!,” he tweeted on Wednesday (Jan. 25). “Don’t call me Gucci no more, call me Drop Top Wizop.”

Are you as excited for the project as Mr. East Atlanta Santa is?

See him building up the anticipation below.
