Drake and his October’s Very Own family are mourning the loss of OVO Sound affiliate Anthony ‘Fif’ Soares. Drake took to IG announcing the tragic passing of his dear friend.

Paying homage to his late friend, Drake wrote, “still can’t believe this morning was real. It was a honor to have shared years together and I will always keep your memory alive.”

According to CBC.ca the 33-year-old was approached by two armed suspects in the lobby of a Scarborough apartment building and subsequently shot. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Although Fif was one of the less well known OVO affiliates, Drake did big him up on his latest album. He rapped, “Just know man like Fif, he’s a sickaz/ You get tanned, he don’t miss tings,” on the More Life track “No Long Talk.”
