Adam “MCA” Yauch

The news of the passing of hip hop hall of famer Adam “MCA” Yauch hit the music community hard today [May 4]. After a three year battle with cancer, MCA passed away in New York at the age of 47, leaving many stunned and heartbroken. As a testament to the impact the Brooklyn-bred rapper had on the genre as a founding member of the groundbreaking rap trio Beastie Boys, many of the celebrities MCA influenced with his music took to Twitter to share their feelings. From Russell Simmons, who signed the Beastie Boys to Def Jam Records in 1985, to Justin Timberlake, who grew up on the group’s wild party anthems, the range of those who admired the late icon was widespread. R.I.P. MCA!
