Posted Feb. 1, 2008 -- Vin Diesel has confirmed that he will reprise his role as Dominic Toretto in the upcoming fourth installment of "The Fast and the Furious."    

The actor starred in the original Rob Cohen-directed film in 2001, which also featured Paul Walker and Michelle Rodriguez. Diesel returned to the franchise in 2006 for a cameo in the third installment, "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift."

I think doing the cameo in 'Tokyo Drift' confirmed a lot of things for me," Diesel told MTV regarding his decision to return. "It confirmed that if you create a role that the world kind of identifies with, or the world adopts, sometimes you have that responsibility to revisit that role."   

Diesel says Walker will also be back in his role.
