The Wire's Felicia "Snoop" Pearson Arrested

Life is imitating art for the actress.

Actress Felicia “Snoop” Pearson was arrested on Thursday morning in connection with a large-scale heroin and marijuana operation. Person gained fame playing an assassin on the popular HBO series The Wire. She was also notoriously convicted at the age of 14 for second-degree murder. And the Washington Post reports that she recently refused to testify as a witness at a murder trail.

The Post says that Snoop was arrested during a pre-dawn raid carried out by DEA agents, Baltimore police and a slew of other federal and state law enforcement agencies.

During filming of The Wire, the show’s creator David Simon noted that the crew turned to Baltimore locals for casting options in order to add realism to the show. Clearly, they got it.

Simon wrote a short post for Slate on Pearson’s arrest. He argued that Snoop was innocent until proven guilty, but did acknowledge that the opportunities she received from her role on the show did not negate the issues she faced due to her race and class. Simon said: “The opportunities and experiences of her life do not correspond in any way with my own, and her America is different from my own. I am therefore ill-equipped to be her judge in this matter.”
