Hoping to curtail a rumor before it spreads any further, Missy Elliott took to Twitter to shut down whispers that she and singer Keri Hilson were once romantically involved.

On Friday, the multiplatinum rapper and producer wrote to Miss Keri, "@MissKeriBaby. Girl It amazes me how we never worked 2gether and barely know each other but they make up a full out lie! Smh!"

The day before, Keri also tweeted a response hoping to play down the rumor: "Lies!! How do those ppl sleep at night? I love & respect Missy & her work, but we've never worked & I've prolly seen her 5 times in my life!"

Gossip site MediaTakeOut.com was the first to report that the two entertainers once had a “worldwide romance” that ended with Elliott allegedly breaking it off with Hilson.
