Kimberly Elise to Star in an African Film
Here’s a movie move that could be easily dubbed "When Hollywood met Nollywood": Ties That Bind, starring actress Kimberly Elise and Nollywood (the phrase for Nigeria's film industry) star Omotola Jalade is currently shooting in Ghana, according to Shadow And Act.
The multimillion dollar film production, directed by Ghanaian director Lila Djansi, also stars Ghanaian actress Ama K. Abebrese. For Elise, the role marks a return to film terrain covered in her role in For Colored Girls. Ties That Bind is the story of three women who are bound together by one common tragedy—the loss of a child. The matriarchal trio meets in a small village and journey together to “redemption, love, life and forgiveness” while renovating a dilapidated clinic.
No word yet on when Ties That Bind is scheduled for release.
