Newcomers Cast as Rue and Thresh for “Hunger Games”

Lionsgate finds fresh faces for its big screen adaptation.

Lionsgate has filled two more spots for its film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games novels.

Newcomers Amandla Stenberg and Dayo Okeniyi will play District 11 tributes (or characters for the uninitiated) Rue and Thresh. Recently, Stenberg finished filming Colombiana, starring Zoe Saldana. And Okeniyi has starred in the short film Eyes to See.

Lionsgate made the announcement on the official Hunger Games page on Facebook and will continue to unveil castings on the site.

Hunger Games will be directed by Gary Ross and produced by Nina Jacobsen. It will hit theaters on March 23, 2012.
