Keke Palmer

She shot into stardom tackling a spelling contest and got her backside worn out by the lash of Tyler Perry’s Madea. Now Keke Palmer is thinking about power both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.

On her website, she announced her next big project will be a film tentatively titled Rags (or Ragz), written by Nick Cannon. “[Nick] called my parents and said he had this cool script that he had been working on and he wanted me to read it,” she wrote. “I was like cool. So we met, he gave me the script, and the rest is history!”

Palmer said she loved the project so much she wants to help produce it as well. “I even got to make suggestions on the script,” she added, “which influenced the music.”

According to the Akeela and the Bee star, she and Cannon have producer Rodney Jerkins to write the film’s music. They have also approached Billie Woodruff to direct.

Palmer recently finished filming Joyful Noise starring Queen Latifah, Kris Kristofferson and Dolly Parton.
