Celebs Use Social Media to Raise Scholarship Funds

Nice to see some stars using the power of social media for good rather than oversharing and ranting. Last week, actress Kerry Washington kicked off the "$40 for 40 Kids" fundraising campaign via Twitter. The social media project, created by TV political analyst Jamal Simmons, has lined up more than 40 celebs to use their social media pull to support the mission. Those on board include actress Rosario Dawson, R&B artist Marcus Cooper and The View's Sherri Shepherd.

The goal is to raise awareness and money for The Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation, which awards scholarships to 40 graduating students from high schools in Detroit and around Michigan each year.
