Lance Gross has signed on to star in a drama called The Last Fall. The film, co-starring American Violet star Nicole Beharie, is described as “a coming-of-age sports drama that shows the difficulties that many professional football players face when they are forced into early retirement and try to transition into their life beyond sports.”
Shadow and Act reports that director Matthew A. Cherry will helm the project in his feature-film debut. The former football player turned director has previously directed music videos for artists like Kindred the Family Soul as well the short film This Time, starring Reagan Gomez-Preston, Terri J. Vaughn and Michael Moss.
Gross will also lend aid to the behind-the-scenes efforts of the pending movie by serving as executive producer. The film will begin shooting in July in Los Angeles.
