Cee Lo to Play Raekwon's Father in New Film

Singer-songwriter turns actor for biopic.

A year ago, rapper Raekwon revealed plans to develop a film based on his experiences growing up in Staten Island. In a new interview with XXLMag.com, the Wu-Tang Clan member shared more insight about the pending biopic—including what other stars will take part in the project. The working title of the movie is C.R.E.A.M., coined after the Wu-Tang classic.

With the script nearly complete, Raekwon has been hard at work on casting. He says he’s about 60 percent complete with assigning roles and revealed that Cee Lo Green will be playing his father. “[He’s] a good friend of mine," Rae said about Cee Lo. "When I called him and told him about it he was just overwhelmed. He’s just one of the greats that’s gonna be on the project.”

Another potential star for the movie is Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids. Raekwon says he was considering Chuck to play his younger self. As for where fans might see the movie, Rae says he’s in talks with an independent movie studio to bring the film to theaters. He noted, “The people that are gonna be involved with it definitely feel like it’s a great picture, and there’s a definite possibility it’s a Lionsgate film.”
