NeNe Leakes and Evelyn Lozada Talk Reality TV Couples Curse

Do they believe the omen?

We’re all familiar with the couple-carnage the reality TV relationship curse has left behind. Jon and Kate Gosselin, Hulk and Linda Hogan, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey and more. But there are two reality stars that don’t give credence to the relationship-killing effect of being on a reality series.

Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada and Real Housewives of Atlanta mainstay NeNe Leakes spoke on the matter.

Lozada, who met her NFL-star fiancé Chad Ochocinco while taping Basketball Wives, said putting the relationship on public display through the show has only strengthened the couple’s romance. Their wedding is scheduled for 2012.

“I actually think the show’s been good for us…,” said Lozada. “I love viewers being able to see our relationship.”

When asked about the possibility of the couple doing their own reality show, Lozada said, "I wouldn’t be opposed." She has, however, confirmed that she would definitely do a season four of Basketball Wives.

For NeNe, who’s preparing to divorce her estranged husband, Gregg Leakes, the affect of starring on a reality series seemed to have the opposite result. However, NeNe doesn’t blame Real Housewives of Atlanta for her marriage’s demise.

“Me and Gregg had issues before we even signed on to do the Housewives show,” Nene told Sister 2 Sister. “I think the show just helped elevate them a little bit. I couldn’t even put it on the show. I wouldn’t allow a show to break me up.”

Later, she would admit: “But the show [didn’t] help.”
