Gayle King May Join “The Early Show” Team

Announcements could come as early as next week.

Gayle King may soon have more things to talk about in the morning than just on her show, which airs on Oprah Winfrey’s network, OWN.

The New York Times reports that CBS is recruiting her to join an expanding team of news experts for The Morning Show.

The show has struggled with low ratings against its other "early bird" counterparts. Rather than continue to try and imitate, executives secretly tell the paper they are now trying something new and different.

This means bringing in fresh blood, such as the 56-year-old King, Charlie Rose and others to assist the current two co-hosts in discussing hard-hitting news. The delivery will be conversational, akin to The View’s easy, round table talk style.

The Times says announcements could come as early as next Tuesday, although the new show wouldn’t air until next year.
