The rising star will play Robinson's wife in the film.
Nicole Beharie has joined the cast of the Jackie Robinson biopic 42, Deadline.com reports. The actress will play Robinson's wife, Rachel, opposite relative newcomer Chadwick Boseman as the baseball legend and Harrison Ford as the coach who first took a chance signing him to the big leagues.
The budding star made a splash this year as the object of Michael Fassbender's affection in Steve McQueen's Shame. She previously starred as Jill Scott's daughter in the Lifetime television movie Sins of the Mother, and also worked with Boseman in another sports drama, The Express. However, she is best known for her performance in the critically acclaimed American Violet.
