Basketball Wives stars gain a show while another couple heads for divorce.
In the world of Basketball Wives, Evelyn Lozada and Chad Ochocinco cut a huge deal while Kenya Bell’s hubby heads for divorce court.
TMZ reports that Bell’s husband, former NBA player Charlie Bell, filed divorce papers in a Michigan Court, claiming there was a breakdown in the marriage. The couple had been separated for a while.
In May of 2011, Kenya gained notoriety when she was arrested after allegedly breaking into the couple's home and attacking Charlie with a box cutter in front of their children. Kenya was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence. She eventually struck a plea deal where she avoided jail time by pleading guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence.
On a more hopeful note, Chad Ochocinco and Evelyn Lozada have signed a deal with VH1 to do a Basketball Wives spinoff. According to TMZ, each received $300,000 for starring in the as-yet-untitled reality series. Filming the debut season will take roughly two months.
The new show will begin shooting in the next few weeks, shortly after taping for Wives has wrapped. Reportedly, the series will focus on the couple as they get ready to jump the broom this summer.
