John Legend is ready to defend his fiancée Chrissy Teigen against Chris Brown's most threatening fans.
In the four days since Teigen criticized Brown for lip-synching his performance at the Billboard Music Awards, the swimsuit model has been getting all kinds of hate-filled tweets and even death threats from Team Breezy, Brown's rowdy but loyal fan base.
Most of the comments can't be reprinted here unless we just typed out a string of asterisks, but here's one that sums up Team Breezy's sentiments: "i hope someone tortures you alive so you can feel the pain & i can hear your amusing screams for help."
Rather than file charges, Legend has sprung to his wife-to-be's defense, firing off a barrage of tweets aimed at her haters:
And don't ever tell me to put my "b---h on a leash". She's a grown woman with her own mind and her own opinions and this is not 1950. — John Legend (@johnlegend)
Every artist has to be ok with the fact that some people won't like their work. All critics aren't "haters" — John Legend (@johnlegend)
Personally, I don't think @chrissyteigen's existence is pointless. Nor anyone else who dares criticize a performance — John Legend (@johnlegend)
Hopefully this war of words will stay on the internet and nobody gets hurt.
Breezy is set to perform at this year's BET Awards on July 1.
