American TV audiences will get a taste of Idris Elba’s British side on BET.
Elba stars as John Luther, an English police detective on the hunt for Britain’s most deranged criminals. A drama starring a Black actor is certainly a rare sight on American television. This Golden Globe-winning role has allowed Elba to portray a complex and brilliant character whose dedicated work often compromises his personal relationships and marriage.
In the hit BBC series, Luther is always hard at work on bringing justice to the British underworld with the help of his loyal partner, Justin Ripley (Warren Brown), and Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson).
