Evelyn Lozada has filed for divorce, TMZ reports.
The Basketball Wives star filed legal documents in Florida on Tuesday, noting that her marriage is "irretrievably broken." The divorce filing comes after a dramatic few days that started Saturday with a fight between Lozada and her husband, Chad Johnson, that quickly turned violent.
Johnson was arrested on Saturday on charges of domestic violence, and released Sunday on $2,500 bond. During a heated altercation, sparked by a receipt for condoms Lozada found in Johnson's car, the football player allegedly head-butted his wife, leaving a 3-inch laceration on her forehead and sending her to the hospital.
On Monday, Johnson saw his professional world crumble when he was released from the Miami Dolphins and saw his reality show with Lozada, Ev and Ocho, get axed from VH1's lineup.
Today, Lozada recieved the terrible news that her beloved brother-in-law, Anthony Ochoa, had died from cancer. Ochoa's condition had become a bittersweet plot point on Basketball Wives when Lozada confessed to her sister and mother that she worried Ochoa would not live to see her walk down the aisle.
Ironically and sadly, Ochoa was able to see the entire lifespan of Lozada and Johnson's marriage, which lasted a total of 42 days.
According to TMZ, Johnson finally broke his silence: "I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death.  To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies.  I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life."  He added, "I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL."
The couple did have a prenuptial agreement, though details about the division of their assets is not known at this time.
