Wanda Sykes to Host Two LGBT Election Specials
Wanda Sykes is throwing her hat into the political humor arena this election season.
Deadline is reporting that the openly gay comedian will host two election specials on Logo, which will be titled NewNowNext Vote With Wanda Sykes. The specials will focus on hot-button issues for gay and lesbian voters.
Each special will feature a roundtable format with both Democrat and Republican panelists and plans to address topics that include same-sex marriage, Supreme Court appointments, the economy and health care. The shows will also be mixed with commentary provided by trending news that crops up for the candidates along the campaign trail.
In a statement Sykes said, “These specials will be thought provoking, exciting and the perfect forum to discuss important issues facing our community. Plus, it is Logo so maybe I’ll get to dress in drag!”
The first special, taped live in front of a studio audience, will air Monday, September 10, four days after the Democratic Convention. The second special will air on the eve of the election, Monday, November 5.
