Chad Johnson Strikes Plea Deal, Will Not Go to Jail

Plus: The pro-baller talks about enrolling in anger management classes.

Chad Johnson’s head-butting altercation with ex-wife Evelyn Lozada got him plenty of press over the last two months, but apparently it will not get him any jail time.

TMZ is reporting that Johnson struck a deal with prosecutors to avoid a prison stint. Sources say the currently unemployed football star agreed to probation and extensive anger management counseling in exchange for a guilty or no contest plea.

Johnson has been charged with misdemeanor battery in connection with the incident. A judge is expected to sign off on the deal at a hearing scheduled by week’s end.

The pro-baller formerly known as Ochocinco has also commented about his decision to enroll in anger management classes to help him keep a cool and level head for the future.

Johnson discussed it during an appearance on Inside the NFL. He told host James Brown, “I’m trying to find out how I can channel my anger when I’m in situations to where I would pop off.” During the interview he also took full responsibility for head-butting Lozada by saying, “I think what I need to do is work on Chad.”

Lozada and Johnson's divorce was finalized this week and Chad agreed to a no-contact order that would block him from talking to Evelyn. During his TV appearance, he shared that he’s no longer on speaking terms with his former wife. “There’s nothing I can say to her because she’s already heard it all,” Johnson said on Inside the NFL. “What can I say…actions speak louder than words and this is the time for me to show action.”
