A year after it was announced that Universal Pictures was moving forward with a sequel to the 1999 hit romantic comedy The Best Man, the much-anticipated project has now been given a release date. Universal Pictures sent out an email, which set the release date for the untitled follow-up for Friday, November 15, 2013.

When The Best Man, which starred Taye Diggs, Morris Chestnut and Nia Long, was released 14 years ago, it grossed $35 million and became a modern classic.

No word yet on the story, but there is word that Malcolm D. Lee will, once again, write, direct and co-produce. Lee, who also hosted a Best Man reunion dinner with members of the original cast (which initially sparked rumors of the sequel), also plans to ask original cast members to reprise their roles.

Lee is currently directing Scary Movie 5.
