The man who accused Kevin Clash of underage sex is now saying it isn't true.
The man who accused Sesame Street voice actor Kevin Clash of sex abuse is taking back his story. The unnamed individual, who claimed Clash had sex with him when he was still a minor, now says their relationship was mutual and consensual between two adults.
Clash responded by saying he is "relieved that this painful allegation has been put to rest." He had no further comment. Sesame Workshop, which produces Sesame Street, released its own statement saying, "We are happy that Kevin can move on from this unfortunate episode."
Clash, the voice of popular children's character Elmo, had taken a leave of absence earlier this week to deal with his legal trouble. He maintained that while he did once have a relationship with his accuser, it was only after the man had turned 18.
No word on when, or if, Clash will return to Sesame Street.
