Box Office: Identity Thief Back on Top
After dropping to second place last week, Identity Thief once again stole the top spot at the box office this weekend, beating out Dwayne Johnson's Snitch and all the other new entries.
The heist comedy, starring Melissa McCarthy, Jason Bateman, T.I. and Morris Chestnut, has grossed a total of $93.7 million over three weeks, making a bona fide star out of Octavia Spencer's BFF McCarthy.
The Rock's action-thriller Snitch debuted in second place with $13 million, a respectable opening on a low-attendance weekend. Escape From Planet Earth, Safe Haven and A Good Day to Die Hard rounded out the top five, with Viola Davis' Beautiful Creatures dropping like a stone to ninth place in its second week.
Next week, X-Men director Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Slayer will go up against horror flick The Last Exorcism II.
