Box Office: Audiences Answer The Call
Halle Berry called, and audiences answered.
The Call, Berry's suspense thriller about a 911 call center worker who gets ensnared in a kidnapping plot, grossed $17.1 million over the weekend, coming in second place. While studio bosses are very happy with the number, it still wasn't enough to dethrone Oz the Great and Powerful. That film, the origin story of the Wizard of Oz, came in first place for the second week in a row, bringing its worldwide total to close to $250 million.
The weekend was not so bright for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. The comedy starring Olivia Wilde and Jim Carrey disappointed with a meager $10 million, despite an agressive marketing campaign.
Next week, Spring Breakers goes up against Antoine Fuqua's Olympus Has Fallen, while Oz tries to hold on to its place.
