Mike Tyson Banned From Entering United Kingdom
Mike Tyson won't be taking the stage in London anytime soon. The former heavyweight champ, who is currently touring with his one-man show, Undisputed Truth, is banned from performing in the United Kingdom thanks to a recent immigration law.
The new law prevents anyone who had been given a jail sentence of four years or more due to a previous criminal conviction from entering the country. Tyson was convicted of rape back in 1992 and was given a six-year sentence, three of which he served.
Tyson, who claims he wasn't aware of the law, made a statement about the situation from Paris. "I have been coming to the UK consistently in the past decade so this change is disheartening since it affects my current entry standing," he says. "I apologize to my fans that were inconvenienced, however, please know I am currently working diligently with the proper authorities to regain access next year for my UK tour."
Hopefully British authorities will reconsider their ban.
