Keke Palmer is coming to BET! The accomplished actress will host her own talk show, called The Keke Palmer Project, on the network this July. At age 20, she will become the youngest talk show host in television history.
The show, which will air every weekday for a four week run this summer, will feature such topics as fashion, pop culture, social issues, celebrity interviews, “on the street” bits and undercover segments.
Palmer's connection with her fans began on social media. “I like to read quotes that touch on how I am feeling,” she says. “If I am dealing with confusion, I will read quotes about clarity and peace of mind. I started posting these quotes on my Twitter page, and the fans responded so positively! I realized that many of them were dealing with similar issues, and the quotes helped to open up a genuine dialogue between us.”
Palmer burst onto the scene at age 12 when she played the title role in the 2006 movie Akeelah And the Bee. She went on to topline her own series, Nickelodeon comedy True Jackson, VP. She next stars in the Drew Barrymore-produced horror film Animal, has a six-episode arc on Showtime’s Masters of Sex and co-stars in the Queen Latifah–produced Brotherly Love and in the indie Imperial Dreams, which premiered at Sundance.
Judge Greg Mathis, the show's producer, is best known for his long-running syndicated court show Judge Mathis.
BET already boasts some of the most exciting names in talk, and Palmer will be no exception when she joins Wendy Williams, Queen Latifah, Tamera Mowry and others.
