One of the most exciting things about the new summer blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is seeing Jamie Foxx as the super-villian Electro. The actor plays Spidey's fan-turned-foe, who can control electricity and — naturally — use it for evil.
We sat down with Foxx and his co-star, Dane DeHaan, to talk about superpowers, super sidekicks and his long history with BET.
As for what Foxx considers to be his defining superpower, the actor told us at one time it was "to turn up," but a run-in with Harry Belafonte made him change his attention from partying to philanthropy. "He said to me, 'What are you doing, man? Use your fame and energy for something that helps others.'" As a result, Foxx says he is spending more time these days on gun-control advocacy.
The Oscar winner also shared with us the fellow celebs he would most want as his own superhero sidekick, and reflected on his long-term relationship with BET. "I've been at BET since the beginning of my career," Foxx says. And we've been thrilled to have him!
