Lee Daniels Recruits Denzel Washington for Cast of Empire
Is Oscar winner Denzel Washington eyeing a role on Lee Daniels's series Empire? It seems like the filmmaker is doing everything he can to court Washington for a guest spot on the smash hit show.
Daniels posted a picture of the Academy Award-winning actor and himself at dinner together on Instagram and made the announcement to his followers: "Trying to talk this one into doing a guest star on #empire #nextweekdinneronme."
Earlier in the week Daniels revealed to The Philadelphia Inquirer that he and Washington are currently discussing the potential of him joining the series. "Denzel hasn’t done television in 30 years. But he saw the pilot and said, ‘I’ve got to be a part of this,’" Daniels said.
Empire has been one of network TV's biggest hits this year and has already been renewed for a second season. The show follows record mogul Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) and his family-run hip hop label. Taraji P. Henson stars as his wife, Cookie.
