Will Smith has been vocal about his desire to play his close pal President Barack Obama on the big screen — and he won't let any of the competition stand in his way. When asked about the possibility of a biopic on the 44th president of the United States with him in the lead, Smith had a lot to say.
"I don't know. He's got to write the end of the story," Will said during the podcast The Frame when asked if he would play the leader. "As soon as he finishes the third act! We talked about that, me and the President, probably about six months ago."
Asked if he's nervous about being beaten out by Idris Elba, who has also been circling the potential project, Will added with a nervous laugh, "He may have switched out. Idris has got that British thing. He sounds so intelligent. I'll have to work on my Obama accent and show him I can do it better than Idris."
It's crazy to think about one of the most bankable actors in the world having to compete for a role, but playing Barry O. is no joke! We're sure the best man for the job will win. In the mean time, watch Smith keep it humble about his acting chops in our exclusive red carpet interview, below:
