Last week, Raven-Symoné made a big stink on The View over an incident in which she claims she was shoved aside on a red carpet to make room for Kendall Jenner.
According to Raven, she was "slapped upside the chest, twice" by a producer for the StarShop app right in the middle of her interview with the app's reporter Alicia Quarles, when the producer wanted to grab an interview with Jenner instead. The way Raven describes it on The View, she was manhandled by the producer the moment model-of-the-moment Jenner arrived. Well, TooFab.com got a hold of the raw footage, and it tells a different story.
In the clip, Raven is indeed asked to step aside — before she's even had the chance to answer Quarles' question — once Kendall appears, by an off-camera producer. "Oh, that's okay, someone's more important, so I'll let them go ahead," the talk show host quips, before you hear someone else say, "Sorry, we're gonna go with Kendall."
While cutting a celebrity off in the middle of an interview in favor of another celebrity isn't a good look for StarShop, the incident didn't exactly go down in the dramatic way Raven described.
"I was at the Zoolander 2 premiere, I’m on the carpet and I understand there’s rise and fall of people’s celebrity. I get it. I respect those who get it," she explained last week. "However, I’m doing an interview with someone and the producer of this show, she goes like this 'MOVE! Move! Get Kendall, get out of the way!"
"I looked at her, I said 'I guess she’s more important than everyone else,'" she continued. "That’s fine, but you don't have to hit me to get someone else's interview. You can ask me kindly, [say] 'Excuse me, Kendall Jenner is coming, I need to interview her' and I'll wait. Don't slap me upside the chest. I got hit twice because this girl came up behind me."
The StarShop producer shares her side of the story, too:
"I was on the red carpet with StarShop, the new celebrity shopping app. We greatly enjoyed interviewing Raven-Symone at the Zoolander 2 premiere. In fact, we specifically sought her out on the red carpet, as we were excited to speak with her and hear her point of view," StarShop Executive Producer Felicia Miller-Stehr tells toofab. "Contrary to media reports, I did not 'hit' [Raven-Symoné] to get someone else's interview, and our video footage speaks for itself."
Does that settle it, or will we be hearing more about this on The View next week? It seems like every time Raven opens her mouth, someone gets mad. Relive her last debacle with BET Breaks, below:
