Born in Richmond, VA and raised in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Delilah has cooking and entertainment in her blood. Early family influences such as summers spent watching her grandmother cook elaborate family meals and nights out with her jazz musician father, still that color her passion cooking and nightlife.

Upon graduating from high school, Delilah moved to New York to pursue a degree in interior design from the New York School of Design. After graduating and succeeding in the field of interior design, Delilah moved to Philadelphia, married and became an award winning business analyst at a local insurance company.

With the confidence gained by finding success in three completely different fields, Delilah instinctively knew it was time to pursue her true passion, Cooking. With vigor, Delilah studied cookbooks, experimented with recipes and attended classes at the Restaurant School, until in 1984, with financial assistance from her family, she leased her first booth at the Reading Terminal Market. Thus beginning the Delilah’s Southern Cuisine company.

In 2000 the realization of another dream came to fusion when she opened Bluezette-- an elegant restaurant that draws upon her Southern heritage. From the all-blue room, to the specialty rum drinks, to the Southern fried chicken, ceviche and smoked fish dishes, she has brought together all the things she loves, and she has named it after a song she fondly remembers her father playing frequently, called “Bluezette”.

Her food resume grew in the fall of 2006, with the publication of her favorite southern recipes in Delilah’s Everyday Soul: Southern Cooking With Style, cookbook. Delilah’s 275 page cookbook, which contains a foreword by author and personal chef of Oprah Winfrey, Art Smith, includes many of the recipes that have made Delilah’s a favorite chef of celebrities such as Patti laBelle, Denzel Washington, Danny Glover, and Tavis Smiley. Also included is the recipe for her acclaimed nation’s best macaroni and cheese as voted by the Oprah Winfrey Show.
