Lance Gross Interview | My New Crush | Style

Published May 12, 2009

Lance Gross is more than just another acting sensation. He is a two-time Image Award winner, currently co-starring in the sitcom, “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne.”

He’s yet to get as much media hype for his budding career as for his good looks, but not for lack of talent. Lance Gross has the full package: the looks, the skill and the girl.

You’re officially off the market. Oh, my heart…

[Laughs] It was instant. She’s perfect for me. You have to be friends first to have a healthy relationship and she’s my best friend.

Was Eva your first love?

I’ve been in love before, but no way comparable to how I feel for Eva.

What do you love most about her?

Her confidence… That’s sexy. She can step into a room and take control of it without saying anything. Confidence is number one for me. A great personality, great conversation – whether it’s politics to what’s hot in hip hop or sports… She’s intriguing and attractive. That’s why I’m marrying her.

What do you like most physically?

Her eyes… They’re really striking.

How about Eva? What does she say she likes most on your body?

She says my smile and my eyes for some reason.

That’s it! Rate yourself on my imaginary sexy meter, 10 being the sexiest.

I’d rate myself an 8. I do have my flaws, but I’m a cool dude. If I wasn’t myself I’d kick it with me. I’m a down to earth person and all around cool guy.

Have you set a wedding date?

We just set a date for July 17, 2010 in L.A. or Santa Barbara. We still have a year.

Will you guys be color coordinated? Seriously, every time I see a picture of you and Eva on the red carpet, you two are matching. It’s fly, but what’s up with that? Does Eva dress you?

Eva doesn’t dress me. It just happens like that. We meet and we have on the same colors. It’s not planned. We’re connected like that. [Laughs] I put on whatever is comfortable on me. Suit, jeans and tee as long as it’s comfortable. It doesn’t matter what brand. If it looks good I buy it.

Have you ever considered modeling?

Eva is trying to get me to do it, but I’m content being an actor. However, if asked to participate in a campaign, I’ll be all over it.

Cool. Well, your social and love life seem very much intact... How’s acting?

It’s going great. Working with Tyler Perry has been a wonderful experience. Everything he touches turns to gold it seems like. The cast is like family so it makes it easy. It’s not like work at all. On set we always have fun.

Is there a leading lady you love working with or have yet to work with but would love to?

Working with Angela Bassett is by far the best. I’ve watched and admired her for years. I’m very intrigued by her work. She’s so cool. I still call her mom when I see her.

Someone I would love to work with… Kerry Washington. I really admire her. I really want to work with her and with Sean Penn. He’s by far my favorite actor. His career is amazing.

Do you still get nervous at auditions? Or are you smooth?

It used to really freak me out. I would get sweaty and everything. I grew up as a shy kid. Now, I’ve gone on so many auditions I’m at a point where if they like me, they like me. If they don’t, they don’t. I’m pretty used to it.

Is there anything you’d love to do in life that you haven’t yet?

I want to skydive so badly. I am trying to talk Eva into doing it. She’s scared, but I ain’t no punk.

Any shout outs?

Shout out to my fans! I’m an approachable dude, so if you see me, say ‘hello’. I’m also addicted to Twitter, so follow me and friend me on Facebook.
