Zoe Kravitz Hates Being Called An "It Girl"

The young actress dishes on her laid back style

Zoe Kravitz, the unofficial spokeswoman for quirky Black girls, covers this month’s ASOS magazine. The actress ditches her typically long, wild mane for a mid-length bob and bangs. The spread was shot by Danielle Levitt, with styling by Zeba Lowe. She outfitted Zoe in pieces by ASOS, Vanessa Bruno, Eleven Paris and pieces from Zoe’s personal closet.

Inside the mag, the daughter of actress Lisa Bonet and rocker Lenny Kravitz, reveals that, although she totally digs her parents’ rock-n-roll style now, she used to wince at their eclectic looks. "I used to be a little embarrassed by how she and my dad would dress, but now I steal their clothes all the time. My dad has totally taken my Cat Stevens T-shirt, but it’s OK, I have his Black Flag one and that’s amazing." She and her mother also share an affinity for a local vintage shop in California.

With the never-ending praise for her offbeat style and budding film career, Zoe still isn’t embracing the hype. "All that 'it girl' sh*t makes me kind of uncomfortable," she insists. "I’m only at the beginning of my career, but I feel successful in that I haven’t sold out in any way, shape or form. I feel good about the choices I’ve made, and I don’t feel like I’ve let go of any of my values. Fame has become this obsession for people, which kind of creeps me out."

Kravitz will make a sexy splash in the summer blockbuster X-Men: First Class.
