He thinks people should expand their horizons
Branded with his funky sense of style, which he calls “retro super future (electrik),” singer Miguel recently set the record straight about his sexuality while visiting The Kenny Burns show. Rumors began to swirl about the singer's romantic life, mainly because of his daring sense of fashion.
Burns tells Miguel, “I want you to clear that up because a lot of people can’t see past your futuristic style,” to which Miguel replies, “At this point, what I will say is, we really do have the tools at our disposal to broaden our horizons.”
Miguel recalls a time when it was unthinkable for everyday citizens to travel abroad, but says that we now have the entire world at our disposal via the internet, and this has heavily influenced his style. “I’ve embraced a lot of worldly culture and I’ve made it a part of who I am. And people living here, who maybe have not done that, may look at my choices artistically and how I express myself visually and aesthetically, you know, as questionable. Especially to my sexuality.”
Answering the question on everyone’s mind, Miguel says with a smile, “For anyone who questions my sexuality, the honest truth is I love women. I’ve always openly loved women.” Watch the clip above.
