Kerry Washington caused a serious stir at the 63rd Annual Emmy Awards with her red-hot look. We all drooled over her crimson gown and wet paint pout, but her subtle mane also deserved some shine. Kerry’s soft waves are the perfect style to try this autumn. Takisha Sturdivant, Kerry’s stylist, dished to BET.com “I believe as a hairstylist that hair should always say something. It should speak for itself.”
This season, fall tresses are chic, glamorous and fiercely feminine. Call it reinvented Hollywood glam. Long to medium length ‘dos are rich in chocolate and caramel tones and decorated with big, looping curls and vintage waves. “For Kerry’s wavy, tousled look, I shampoo and condition, blow-dry, and flat iron it really light,” explains Sturdivant. “Then, I wrap Kerry’s tresses around a medium-barrel curling iron in really big sections to give her that look.” Lastly, she warns against scorching your hair. “I also don’t use extremely high heat. If the curling iron goes up to twenty, I don’t put it on twenty. We don’t like it super curly, just wavy.”
To finish your ‘do, the celeb stylist recommends one of her favorite products, L’Oreal Paris Studio Glass Shine Spray. “I spray it directly on my hands and then I distribute it throughout her hair. Kerry hates for her hair to be weighed down. She absolutely loves body and movement.”
