Brandy Test Drives Short Hair in a High Fashion Shoot for YRB

The singer's transformation is right on time as she prepares to release a new album this summer!

Brandy has come a long way! Once upon a time we thought she’d have braids forever and after wearing the signature look for years she finally let her hair down. Now she’s taking another big style step and switching her hair up completely with a short pixie she debuted in YRB magazine.
The new hair was matched with fashion forward looks styled by Darius Baptist and shot by Miguel Starcevich. Bold gold and bronze outfits and a black mermaid gown brought the drama along with futuristic shades and a Queen of Spades type headpiece that covered her face in one of the frames.
The singer sounds like she’s geared up for a transformation all the way around! It’s been four years since she’s released an album and she’s prepping her next one, Two Eleven (which nods to her birthday and her friend Whitney Houston’s passing), with a fresh sound.
"It’s grittier, it’s edgier, it’s just different type of R&B. It’s not your regular smooth, soft with the beat type music," she told YRB of the album due for release in June. “It’s just taking risks and hearing how I sound over different types of music, and I wanted an album that different people can listen to. Not just R&B, but pop and hip hop. I wanted everyone to have something that they can listen to on this album.”
The actress is set to star in Tyler Perry’s upcoming movie, The Marriage Counselor (in theaters July 27), alongside Kim Kardashian, Vanessa Williams and Lance Gross.
