Keyshia Cole might have a way with spinning sad songs, but the singer says she's now in a happier place and credits her new life milestones for it. During the Essence Music Festival, Cole was asked about her new album Woman to Woman and if marriage and motherhood have changed her music and she explained that it has, but that she hasn't forgotten those who are still nursing a broken heart.

"It has," she said, "because I'm in a happy place now. However, some of my fans are not. So I brought on a bunch of writers this time around…obviously. I'm not in that place to write those kinds of songs."

She also says that she's changed in other ways adding, "I think that I've grown vocally and I think a lot of the songs are touching to me."

Woman to Woman will drop in the fall, but it's not the only Cole project we have to look forward to. The singer is also starring in a new reality show, Family First, that will debut after the LP's release.

"It's me, my husband, my son and my mother, Frankie. My mother's been in rehab for a while. I'm really proud of her. It's just a different view of me and what I've been through. You won't see Neffe on the show. However, I wish you would have."
