His shoe design will drop in May 2013.
Now that Lil Wayne's skateboarding-inspired fashion line, Trukfit, has successfully hit the masses, he's looking to add shoes to his collection. The rapper is teaming up with skateboarding shoe brand SUPRA to create his own design.
"I was just rocking them when I was skating and stuff and when I got real cool with the homey [professional skateboarder] Stevie Williams, it was kinda like a plug from him," Wayne told MTV News. “He [Williams] been with SUPRA. He just let them know. Even before I was skating, I was rocking SUPRAs before I even knew what they were. It was just a mutual respect on each end so it was just bound to happen."
Despite being courted by other shoe companies, the Young Money CEO decided to stick with the brand he himself wore when he got into skateboarding. The shoe collaboration is set to be released May 2013.
