The actress says her mom has always done her own hair and makeup.
Did you know that Diana Ross has always been behind her own hair and makeup styles? It's true! The diva's daughter, actress Tracee Ellis Ross, let the Huffington Post in on the secret during an Optimum Salon Haircare event. (She's the face of the brand's new "6-in-1 Miracle Oil.")
"My mom does all her own hair and makeup, and always has," Ellis Ross said. "There are people who have supported her in the process, but for the stage, I have always sat as a little girl and watched my mom do her makeup. Eyelashes, the whole deal — she does it herself."
It's thanks to this do-it-yourself attitude that Ellis Ross now embraces doing up her own looks. And from the looks of it, her mom proved to be an impressive teacher because we're constantly fawning over Ellis Ross' fashion sense and curls.
"I became someone who could do it myself. And I am in love with it. My bathroom is filled with hair and makeup stuff and I play with it all the time. What the real lesson is, is that you can own your own sense of beauty," Tracee said. "It doesn't have to be something you get from somewhere else."
